New Filter Has Arrived

Hi all my new filter has arrived this morning, it's an external filter for my new tank. Do I need to clean it out befor I use it ?

i generally give them a rince out if i can be bothered, usually they come clean enough to plug and play.

give any sponges and media a good rinse to remove any trapped dust etc.
