Hi evry1!!!! im new to the breeing fish thing, but i have decided to breed GUPPIES. does anybody have any tips for me.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :good:

A good ratio is to have 3 females for every male. (some people think 2 is enough, but I prefer 3)

Guppies r called J.A.W. fish for Just Add Water. the common ratio of males 2 females is 1:3 but some ppl prefer 1:2. more is better as the male guppy will hav more females 2 bug. Guppies r live bearers, meaning they give birth instead of laying eggs. the females u buy from a store will most likely already b pregnant. u can tell if shes pregnant if she looks bloated and has a dark spot near her anal fin, or the round fin near her anus. the gravis spot is actually the frys eyes as the fry develop inside their mom. it takes about a month 4 the fry 2 develop fully and the mom 2 give birth. she usually gives birth to 20-40 fry, depending on how old she is. the older she is, the more fry she is likely 2 hav. in some rare cases, older guppies have gave birth to 60 or more fry! when the female guppy is about to give birth or near birthing, she will hover in 1 spot or hide away from the other fish in plants and ornaments and such. u can also tell she is gona give birth when the males follow her around more. it is NOT reccomended 2 put her in a breeding net/box/trap, as it causes unneeded stress 2 the guppy, and she may abort her fry. when the fry r born and if u wish 2 keep them all, u should keep them in a seperate tank, cuz other bigger fish will eat the fry. the fry should be fed 4-6 times a day, with live or frozen foods such as daphinia, blood worms, or baby brine shrimp, or u can feed them specially formulated fry food, that is in powder or liquid form. the fry tend 2 reach sexual maturity in 6 weeks, but depending on genetics, it could take them a longer or shorter amount of time. u can tell them from boys or girls by their anal fin. boys have a pointed fin that they keep close to their body called the gondopodium, while females hav a rounded fin. the males and females should be seperated around six weks of age, cuz young females that become pregnant sooner will hav shorter life spans. -heart  , ally86ozzy
