there is this pond by my house. its freshwater (im pretty sure). i was looking around to see what was in the pond pretty much nothing but tad poles. all of a sudden these little things caught my eye they had a shell there very small like the size of the tad pole they stuck alittle out of the shell and had these hair like things that stuck out of the shell with there head. there were lots of hair like things that inabled it to move around. they waved the zig zag things in this endless wave motion to let them move. riminded me of sea mokeys. anyways here is a picture i drew of them was wondering what they are if there some sort of single celled organizm. can they be put into aquariums? not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyways heres a pic i drew

Here is the drawing

Yeas, I'd say daphnia too. Great live food as long as the pond is clean!

hmm thanks but im not sure if thats it. there about ---- long but there shell is not see through more of a brownish color. maybe tomorrow after school ill go back and take a picture of them.

Could it be the larvae of a (BIG) mosquito-type insect? What bugs do you see flying around?

no bugs were seen flying around. these were swimming in the middle-top region of tank and were swimming in a group. there was about six of them and one attacked the other but did no damage or anything.

Sounds like an ostracod to me, too. Pretty common this time of year in ponds. I have lots in mine. They're distinctive when they are swimming. Instead of put-put-putting forwards like daphnia, they move rapidly and smoothly. Pond ostracods are anything up to 2 mm in length. When you look at one, you will see a clam-like shell, with the opening downwards, and from the opening at the limbs.

The only other suggestion is a mosquito pupa. These hang at the surface. They look like balls with tails curled underneath them. If you tap one, it will flick the tail and swim downwards, then eventally drift back up.
