Hoover AL,
I bought some pvc pipes for my 55 gallon and it had a sticker on it. I peeled it off but the sticky stuff was still on. To get it off i used nail polish remover. What do i have to do to make it safe to put in my tank?
Thanks, Kevin

Just a rinse, or if you're worried a scrub or boil. Acetone rapidly evaporates and I'm pretty sure it doesn't leave a residue.

It didn't melt the plastic? I thought acetone was a plastic solvent?

Hi, yes acetone will effect some plastic but not drastically as it does evaporate extremely quickly. Some nail polish removers also contain lanolin so just rinse well like you would your hands before putting them in your tank.

We are not talking major polution here so imo, no problem :good:

a good rinse if fine. Acetone is often the curing agent in silicone, so it should cause no problems.
