Hi. Came home from the shops earlier to find my male dwarf gourami dead on the Bottom of the tank. There has been no casulties in my tank since i started it and water tests over the last few weeks all appeared to be fine. He has always hid the majority of the day since i bought him. The last few days he had been going to the side of the tank and swimming up and down it, (side on if you know what i mean), but seemed fine, then yesterday for quite a while he was just in the same place hovering for hours. And then he was dead. The rest of the tank mates seem fine, including the two red honey gouramis iv got. Can anyone shed any lit of the possible cause of this? Thanks

Could have been dwarf gourami disease. Google it and see if any of the symptoms fit.

It happened to my DG too. Came home one day to find him breathing heavily and struggling to swim, and the next day he was dead. No problems with the water and nothing wrong with other fish.

Dwarf gouramis are known for dropping dead for no apparent reason.

If you fancy gourami's and don't have any others in your 20g+ tank, you could get a non-dwarf such as 3spot/gold/opaline/pearl/sparkling/ext.
