My water hyacinth leaves

anybody else have this problem or know why the leaves would change from green to yellow? the plants arent dying, they're still infact growing new buds and leaves.

my ph is high, about 8.8, is that why?
ammonia 0
nitrite .5
nitrate 0
hardness 16dgh or 286.4ppm

also, i cant seem to lower my ph, even with 40% water cahnges, my tap is 7.8

I've read yellowing (but still growing) can indicate an iron deficiency... could be it?

mine did that too...
iron tabs did help. although they also contained magnesium - also needed by plants.

now for another question.. where and what kind of iron tablets? and how
crush a human iron pill and sprinkle it in the water? hehe
