Hi guys!
Been a while since I posted in here!
I have just finished my latest video:
My Redback Macropods!
It's a video with a not so often seen Macropod or Paradisefish, the Redback Macropod, Macropodus erythropterus.
Here's the spawning male:
It's very similar to the Black Macropod, M. concolor, but they get a rusty-red back as they grow older.
The fish in my video are still pretty young at 4 months old and have just started to sexually mature and develope some colours, they will get more bluish as they get older as well.
Sexes are distinguished by the elongated tailfin threads on the males.
They are harmless towards other fish, I used to have my first pair with dwarf cardinals without any problems, and the female can be kept with the male as well after spawning.
Only time when they can get aggressive is at feedingtime when they might fight among themselves for the best seat in the "restaurant", once their stomachs are full they settle down again, with just an occasional flare of its fin and a short chase!
Enjoy!
