Well I don't feed them ONLY bloodworms if ya read it. He gets a mix of the three, the Spectrum flakes, the freeze dried krill(that I soak in tank water so he can gobble them up) and the bloodworms. I do have cichlid pellets but he acts weird when he eats them, like they are a little hard to get down since they are hard still when I throw them in the water, but should be fine when he gets a bit bigger.

Thanks for responses, keep em coming.

Oscars have teeth, you can hear them biting food when they eat, you dont mention his size, but as soon as you can get him onto a good pellet diet the better, flakes arent really appropriate for Oscars. I feed mine, tetra doromin and hikari cichlid gold, they come in various sizes so as the Oscar (or other cichlid) grows you can increase the pellet size :good:

Sorry spaced my mind, She(I think, the vents are more spaced out and different sizes as opposed to being the same size and close together) is about 3" and has grown about 1/2" since I got her about 2 weeks ago.

I also have Hikari Gold Pellets, unfortunetely I bought the medium pellets and I think she would like the small ones more as of now, but she does eat them and enjoys it. She REALLY enjoys the krill and it has an analysis of :

Protein - 61.9% min
Fat - 18% min
Ash - 16% max
Fiber - 2.5% max

I feed her 1/3 krill at a time and about 4 pieces in total. Although I don't give her the end that is just the head and crunchy stuff. So she gets about just over a whole krill each time I give her them, which is about every 3rd day.

Seen as we're onto frozen foods here, Is prawns a good idea for fish?
I've chopped up a few prawns and dropped them in for my green terrors before, they love em.

I rarely feed them prawns mind you, once in a while.. just wondering what people think of the idea? lol.
