That's what I'm wondering, do you know how they got in your tank?

Bristleworms are to saltwater what snails are to freshwater :p

I just went through this whole thread - read every post (and it's past 2:30 am) - and your tank realy is amazing. Those full shots made me think of going marine (and that's not like me at all!)... I hope everything works out. I can't wait for an update!

edit: spelling terribly as usual

man , that blows, bit like me and this algae, takin over everything, but u are on the road to a better setup by the sounds. im in the saving stages for a new a marine setup

so sorry you had to start again but amazing tank all the same! What do bristleworms do to the tank?

after this amazing journey im so sorry to hear what happened. I was getting really excited to see your tank fully done. What do bristleworms do? and how is the new set up doing?

Hey Hazmat I am really sorry that happened to your tank. One question for advice how would you prevent your tank for getting bristle worms? Then if you obtaine them how would you go about removing them?

Just a few questions for other people that might obtaine them and how to get rid of them?

Also again, I am very sorry that your tank died. Remember knowlage comes from mistaces.

Thanks for all the kind comments.......
Yeah I was bummed out to toss out all my coral but they where infested with the worms and I did not want to take a chance by putting one back in my tank at all. It would only take one and I would eventually be in the same situation.
I don't know for sure how I got them..... I could have gotten one on any of the corals that where attached to a rock when I bought it. I could have had one in the live rock when I got that..... Who knows
I will from now on, make sure I inspect anything that goes into the tank as best as possible.
On a good note, my water has been stable for the past week so I finally picked up my fish today :kana: My kids are back..... and they look happy to be home.
I'll keep ya posted with any new updates Oh and I'll try and take a current picture of what it looks like now.

To be honest I don't really think it is possible to avoid having bristle worms in a reef aquarium, and in my experience (and from what I've read) those that do turn up tend to be harmless detravoirs unless you are really unlucky.
JMHO

I wish I had 4200 laying around for me to spend on a SW reef tank.......I'm lucky if I'll get my 66$ for my planted 55

i cant really say any thing about that tank...but if i had it an found i waisted 7000 to find something like brisleworms or something i would FLIP OUT #$*#^@#$$^*U@$(@$*(*(#*@!&!%&

ya, i dont get why you would start all over casue of bristle worms...they dont do harm, the big ones, fire worms, can do harm...but just remove them. they make traps for the worms, but they do stir up the sand and stuff. many people like to have them for that reason. oh well...to late now. but next time get yourself a wrasse to eat them.
