I see from other posts on the subject that I am supposed to post asking for a mod to edit my post as I can't edit it any more?

Is there no other way around this? The amount of times I edit my journal somebody is going to have a part-time job. 😄

Until my tank is setup I am still changing some things around so I am updating the first post with those changes and marking off when things have arrived, etc. Even after the tank is setup though I was planning on updating the first post with the latest full tank shot, every week.

At the moment, I wanted to update my journal as I have changed the fish I'm going to get so if someone could kindly change the fish list in my first post for me please?

It should now read:

Fish:
30 Congo Tetra.
10 Kuhli Loaches20 Lemon Tetra.
20 Orange Venezuela Corys
30 Otocinclus - I may or may not add these, I'll have to see what I think, but that won't be until the tank has been running for 3 months+
10 Pearl Gourami.
20 Red Wagtail Platys
10 Reticulated Hillstream Loaches
1 Royal Farlowella

Also 'Ludwigia repens 'Super Red' wants removing from my plants list.

I've changed a few more fish, if someone wouldn't mind editing my journal again for me please? 😁

Fish list should now be:

20 Gold Wagtail Platys.
10 Kuhli Loaches
20 Lemon Tetra.
20 Orange Venezuela Corys
10 Panda Garra
1 Red Tailed Black Shark
10 Reticulated Hillstream Loaches.
10 Roseline Sharks.
1 Royal Farlowella.
50 Rummynose Tetra.

Also can the thread title be changed? If so can you make it:

Aquatopia - 6x2x2 Low-Med Light, High Tech Nature Aquarium

In the future it might be better to create a new post in the thread with your updates! Then people can see the progression of the tank and your journey with it, since you didn’t start with all those fish. Like a diary of your tanks progress

Oh the journal is going to be a diary of my progress with the tank once it is setup. I'm just keeping the first post updated with my latest plans for the tank. I've changed quite a few of my plans, for both fish and plants, as they have progressed. I suppose I could have posted about each of those changes in my plans, if that's what you mean?

I can still do that. I think I can remember most of the changes.

Also I just realised the amount of Lava Rock is incorrect. It says 100Kg and it's actually 50Kg.

Rocks - 100 Kg Black Lava rock. - already here!

I'd also ask that the line below be removed. I don't want to have to keep asking for the post to be edited once the tank is setup.

Once the tank has been setup I will keep this first post updated with the latest full tank shot. 📷

Come to think of it can someone please remove all the ' - already here!', ' - partially here!' and ' - not here yet.' comments from the end of the lines in my build equipment lists?

I just don't want to have to keep bothering people to edit my journal.

When you have a journal here, it goes by "jour", by day. You just keep on moving. You don't backdate changes.

Make certain the date of the entry is clear, and consider it to be a diary. You're noting a process of change, and sharing that. The moderators are volunteers who are unpaid and who take care of spam and squabbles. We don't have time to edit threads as info changes. You as the writer record the moment, and once it's written, you record and share your responses to how it changes and evolves in the next entries. The future is unwritten, but once the present is recorded, it's the past.

I didn't know that. When I searched for threads on the 'unable to edit my journal' issue I found that previously people were advised to post in this forum asking for a mod to edit their journal for them, so that's what I did.

I'm used to old forums where you can edit your posts as much as you like and everyone used to update the first post in their journal, even well after the tank was setup. People would update the first post with the latest full tank shot so that people who come to read the thread later on can see how the tank is looking wihout having to (sometimes) search through dozens of pages to try and find the latest full tank shot.

For me it makes more sense to have the first post kept up to date, especially for the planned fish/plant lists. For example, my fish list started off with Angelfish. If someone in the future is looking for examples of an Angelfish planted tank they would start reading my journal expecting to find one. They would then spend some time reading pages of the thread before they got to the part where I changed my mind about the Angelfish. By having the planned fish/plant lists kept up to date in the first post it would save them from wasting their time.

Having said that it is your forum and your rules, which is fair enough and now I know. However, without the changes I requested the first post in my journal is now incorrect and looks silly. I have the wrong amount of Lava Rock and an equipment/build list that has notes on the end of the items stating what has and hasn't arrived yet, which cannot be updated. I also state that I'm going to keep the first post updated with the latest full tank shot, which I cannot do. It just makes it look daft now.

I understand that and that's why I thought asking mods to edit journal posts wasn't a good idea in the first place. This is also why I was asking for the parts which make it look like I am going to keep updating my first journal post be removed, because, as I said in my previous post, I didn't want to keep bothering people to update my post.

Thank you for replying and letting me know anyway. I appreciate the response. :)

I would suggest that the previous posts advising people to post asking moderators to edit their journal first posts for them be found and removed, to avoid this happening again. I would also recommend creating a pinned thread with the information you gave me above - that people are not supposed to be able to keep their journal first posts updated here, that way people can find that information when they find they can no longer edit them.
