After last nights close call with the texas spawning and removing the female before she laid any eggs, the Rottied decided to spawn this afternoon on the same ornament the texas were trying to use:rolleyes: . However the large male texas is hovering above the sevs and is doing what looks like helping them fan the eggs  (tail down showing his underside to the eggs) if any of the others come near the spawning site its the texas chasing them off. the sevs are totally relaxed fanning the eggs and are not bothered by the texas "helping". My hubby and I are completely shocked watching this. Trouble is if he has "adopted" these eggs, Im not sticking my hand in there to remove them

Haha i have heard of this before, there is a guy on MFK who has Uaru raising his Rotkeil Sevs :p

I would worry about the Texas killing the Rotkeils tho, even if they were half the size, but you seem to be a pro at this hobby (deffo the breeding side of things) so im sure everything will be ok :p

:fun: YEah on MFK there was a guy whos Chocholate cichild took over the severums fry and would not let the parents near their own fry. The Chocholate cichild did a good job raising the fry as his own. It was pretty funny he basicaly kidnapped the severums family  silly cichlids.

Oh Great  lol. Thankfully this morning he seems to have lost interest in his adoptive family.
