Mixing Oscars

Hopefully going to move them today, if not then it will be next weekend.

Today they are interacting a bit nicer LOL, Shadow is getting bolder but still very submissive.

Do you think moving him first to establish territory in the 6ft would help or both at once?

put the shy one in first, and then "set" terrotories with decs/plants etc, then put the boss in and cross your fingers

good luck, they are like something out of tom n jerry by the sound of it

Yep, thats what I was going to suggest, put Shadow in 1st, wait an hour minimum, then release Ghost in, it puts them both on an even footing, let us know and pics are compulsory btw :D

LOL, will do. I've got 3 tall plants and a pile of wood in the big tank so that should help.

I'll keep you posted!

hmm oscars and compatabilty issues,hehe....At one point i had 6 living in harmony together, not reccomending it to anyone.....You are best floating them in a bag each right next to each other,i would do this for around one hour, the release the one which has been hiding, then give it around a half hour before release the stong one, you i think will get some aggrestion over the next few week's so be ready, don't panic at the first fight, they will fight, Just be ready if it relentless beatings....My pair wen't through a hair rasing couple of months..I thought at one point to seperate them, then suddenly one day the sorted there issues and all was fine, try to have some places where they can escape and hide, i have big plastic plants hanging in each corner of the tank and they used to hide if threatened, it worked well...
good luck

Thanks! So far no real injuries, no aggression at feeding times, just a bit of 'Oi I'm the boss' every now and then from Ghost, as if when he gets bored he yells at shadow LOL.

As I type both are swimming round happily yet 5 min ago Shadow was being told off.... I guess this is why we all love Oscars!

Wow that's a fab sight.... How long did you have them together for?

approx four month's...there was less agresstion then than when i had two, and the biggest were 12ish inches and smallest 2-3inch..crazy eh...
IAM NOT RECCOMENDING THIS TO ANYONE,It was alot of work involved keeping water perfect and cleaning the mess woooh

Wow Nelly, that is crazy (not sure if you are crazy for trying it LOL :p )

Well, didn't move them yesterday as my sailfin plec is labouring for breath and looking ragged in the 6ft os being shifted to the hospital as I type virtually - very frustrating - water is bob on - 0,0, 25 and only difference is the heatwave has the temp about 1deg C higher than usual. (I'm using 1x300w heater in a 150gal tank :S ) Anyway I suspect the problem is in the gravel as I seem to get a reccuring bacterial problem in there so a full strip, dry and sterilise is in order I think.... ugh.

However, today both O's are out and about and seeming to choose to be companions rather than loners which is encouraging :)
