Metaframe Aquariums

Hey there guys! Not exactly sure where i should have put this topic but meh it can be moved if needed.

So i was up in Wisconsin picking off ticks and going to some antique stores and so forth. As we walked into this one antique shop i couldnt help but asking if they had any sort of aquarium goodies that i could snatch up. They pointed me in a direction and soon enough i was holding what was a little 2.5 gallon rectangle with an open top, wire frame, and a slate bottom/ some other kind of stone concrete bottom. I knew it was previously used as an aquarium as thats what the owners said, but was wondering if its really one of those old meta frame aquariums that were sold back in the......umm was it 1960's? idk im hoping someone can give me some info as to what it is and what its value if anything at all....

i got it for 3$ so no big deal if its not an antique roadshow deal buster or anything, in fact im pretty sure theres no value to them at all or i at least destroyed it as i took off all the sealant on the inside edges since i tested it for leaks and am now resealing it with regular old aquarium sealant....

pictures would really help. but it sounds like an ORIGINAL. slate bottom is the give away.

they were sealed with lead, so its worth checking for any. it will leak, whatever you do, as slate and silicone don't get on, too, well.

Would love too see some snaps of this mate. Dont know anything about them. but interested too see how its made.
