Light Times?

Hey all,
Just just wondered how long and what times you have the lights come on in your tank,
And does it matter?
i have mine from 12 at lunch to 10.15 at night, Mainly cause i'm normally out all day and always up late, And then still get 10 hrs of light

Mine us a heavily planted tank and I gave mine on from 2pm till 11pm. Not sure I am putting them on a suitable time but not sure.

Ideally you should have them on for about 8 hours a day (especially to keep plants happy). Mine are on from 1.30pm till 9.30pm

With mine, it's 7-9am, 3-5pm and then 7-12pm.
When I get up, come home from work and then relax and enjoy them.

No more than 9-10 hours is recommended, it matters as too much light and you can get algal problems.

mine is on between 7:30am and 7pm, with moonlights coming on between 7pm and 9:30.

Monday to Friday 5.20pm to 10.00pm at the weekend they are on most of the day. I don't seem to have any problems with this and it's on three tanks.

Mine is as follows:

Moonlight Leds - 6am-12pm
Moonlight & Tube lights - 12pm 8pm
Moonlight leds - 8pm-10pm

mine is on 6.30am-7.30am off when at work,then back on 6.30pm-11pm - they seem fine with that

I dont have to worry about plant lighting...

mine are on from about 8.30am till 11pm i have no problems or any algae

i am out most the time but my little sister (she's 2) sits watching them for hours she loves them

I'd always thought, apart from algae control, the light times didn't matter, in an un-planted tank. but 12 hours a day, should not cause problems. as tropical fish are, for the most part, from equatorial parts. they get 12 hours sun per day.

differs a bit day to day depends when i wake up/remember to turn them on in the morn norm 10-12 then leave them on for about 9 hours. Gonna get some timers soon will put them on for about 8-9 hours prob like 2pm-10pm

my local B&Q had bargain bins full of goodies for a quid, and had plenty of timers in them. unfortunately i went to get another one a few days ago and they didnt have any, and the next cheapest was 6 quid.

8.30am to about 5.30pm and if i stay up late i put my lights on for another hour or two, My plants have been healthier with the extra 2 hours.

interesting to see some people have there's on in the morning for a couple of hrs then off again untill later, Are they planted tanks? Does that seem to effect plants?
