my main group of tanks has more than a dozen different lights, between early and late dim lighting, back ground lights, the algae grow area in my Hillstream tank, plant lights, and the main tank lights... since we sleep by these tanks, the lighting needs to be sinked to our sleeping habits, and I hate when I need to redo my timers twice a year... I think I've got them all where I want them now, after this last time change... I've tried setting them in the middle, so I don't need to change the timers, but it greatly diminishes my viewing... can't help it... it doesn't seem to matter to the fish at all, but I like having my tanks set around my schedule...

anyone else feel the same???

I think in the couple years I've been doing this set up, I have the changes down now, into 4 groups, and the main tank lights I always turn on and off manually around our specific schedule, and a couple of the plant lights are on and off in the middle of the day, I don't adjust those...I mostly just need to change the 1st and last lights, and the background lighting... 1st lights seem easiest to turn off the night before, and then set an alarm clock earlier than I typically get up to get those timed properly... it would be easier if there wasn't a time change twice a year...

This year, I am going to shut off all my lights through the entire fishroom, and reset the whole thing. I have a mix of bluetooth operated lights, and analog timer ones, and am quite frustrated trying to get them to work twice a year. The clock changes aren't going away.

Does anyone know where I can find the timer on my dog? She got me up way too early this morning.

I have lights with built in timers on all my tanks. I do not adjust the timers when the clocks change. Our fearless leader is talking about doing away with standard time. He does what he pleases.

We have a crow around here that wakes me up every morning about 30 minutes before sunrise. The stupid bird sleeps in a tree next door while his group sleep about 500 meters down the road in a different tree. So 30 minutes before the sun comes up, the stupid sob starts screaming for his mates, who return the favor by waking up everyone down the road. If I had a gun, I should shoot the bloody thing just so I don't get woken up.

As for daylight saving, it's stupid. I never changed the timers on my tanks when we had it here and most people spat the dummy when we had it here. Fortunately they stopped doing it here in Western Australia. The days are too long and hot as it is and expecting people to go to bed an hour earlier while it's hotter is just dumb.

The worst part of Americans having daylight savings, is they think the rest of the world has it too. I play a computer game called World of Warcraft. The idiots in head office think that 5am their time is the same as 5am my time and regularly finish special events in the game based on their time and not the actual time in the other country or time zone. I expect an event to finish at 5am Sunday and it finishes at 2am, which isn't even close to 5am Pacific time.

Everyone needs to write to their leaders and tell them to stick daylight saving where the sun doesn't shine.

I don't change the timers on my two tanks, I just needed to remember to feed the fish an hour earlier when the clocks went back a week ago.

So many countries change the clocks twice a year. Back in the 1970s I shared a lab with a Chilean student. I wondered how I was going to explain the concept at the first clock change after she arrived but she said - we do that as well. Which way do I change it?

In the UK, not changing was trialled for a couple of years, leaving winter at the same time as summer. I was at school, catching a bus just after 8 am and during those winters I was leaving home in darkness and having to cross busy roads during rush hour. I was so relieved when they re-introduced 'winter time' so that I was leaving and returning home while it was light. It was worse in Scotland, being further north than Lancashire.

I use Alexa to control my tank lights. It automatically adjusts for the time change. I also have my house thermostat, outside lighting, indoor lamps, ceiling lights, space heaters and air conditioners controlled by Alexa.
