Leviathan X A Daughter

meh, i meant the abdominal area. certainly you can't see the fish's stomach, but that is the area where the swelling and pineconing is generally most obvious when viewed from above. It certainly was that way on my fish, and the ones i've seen online.

his scales look a little odd, but i think it's part pigmentation, and part that he has those fused fins and the body is a bit warped where his tail ought to be. None of them are actually sticking up

:)

I have fry from Leviathan's spawn, yaaaay! :D
Not many, but that just makes each one all the more precious. Still nothing from the tailless guy, by no fault of his own... the female isn't cooperating. I may have to try the superblack DT girl instead, but I'd really rather not if I can avoid it since she is EXTREMELY aggressive. She's really a better fish, though.

PS. I like that female too. She's quite a bit different from the one I got :) I'm having probs with the boy being more aggressive despite the female being more than willing to spawn. any advice? He fake-attacks her until she hides though she originally hangs out under the nest with breeding bars and head in a down-position. Quite frustrating.
He's just a virgin, lol. It may take a couple of tries, but eventually he should get the idea

Ooh, nice! Where's the bubblenest, though? ????
He didn't make one until the eggs were already laid, just a couple of bubbles to keep them at the surface. He is a great father though, I trust his judgement... he was ready to breed and so was the female, bubblenest or not, so I let them have at it :p. Now that he has fry he has a nice bubblenest, albeit small... I think he makes them compact like that so he can keep the eggs/fry all in one place easily.

ah um.. um.. I don't want to spoil the mood, but the fish in that last pic.. he doesn't have dropsy, does he? :\ I just am a bit worried at the look of his scales.
Nah, it's just his colouration that makes him look like that. His iridescent layer is super thick, almost like a dragon, which makes the scales appear quite pronounced. On top of that his back end is natually pretty pudgy, just a part of the deformity :p. If he had dropsy he certainly wouldn't feel well enough to flare and bubblenest.

Hey Invader,

If you check my recent spawn post, you can see two of synirr's kids. Got them in the mail last tuesday and they spawned on the 27th :)

They should marble up, but they haven't yet. Looking forward to watching the change involved.

Cheers,

-Ian
