Kind Of Rescaping

Hey Gidge, welcome back! Things have changed here quite a bit, while you were gone. Anyways, I'm sorry I can't help with the I.d. of the plants. I have ideas, but not positive. Keep updating, and I'll continue to follow.
I like the over planted look.
Hey there! Really? Things have changed? Like what?

I'm starting the mission today! Going to take me a while -de snailing everything  - but hopefully will have some pictures for you soon! :)

The site was sold. The new owners let any company advertise on the pages. By any, I mean porn and the like. All but two of the old mods were dismissed. It goes on and on, but that's the boring stuff.
Back to the fish!
If you keep ordering plants, you may have to start your own nursery.

Wow! Politics eh!? Sounds exactly like soccer.

Well, 6 hours of hard work, I've finished. I'm going to wait for it to clear a bit before I take pictures. (Oh the suspense!)
As for my opinion on it, it's alright :/ haha I'm sure you know by now how incredibly fussy I am! Just need to wait to get some height on some of the plants.

And now, I need to stock up on my fish :p I've noticed I've only got 2 Cory's left :( So definitely need to up their numbers! Same goes for the Tigers. Only got 4.

As for my Krib (He's on house arrest after being found guilty for murdering his ever so attractive Mrs) I'm debating whether to get him another young lady to court, or get a pair of German Blue Rams :/

I'm sure it will look great. As for Mr krib, I think he should have a second chance at love. Maybe with all the extra plants, she'll have more room to get away, if he goes psycho again.

Okey Dokey! Just going to post some of the progress as well, so you can see why it took me 6 flipping hours!

First of all, had to get the set up right. Having the table there was SO much easier then bending over all the time!

Put all my new plants into buckets.

Then the pruning and de-snailing started. As you can see the stems on my Hygro Stricta's were beginning to rot :(

And here you can see what the pesky snails did to my beautiful Hygro Corombosa's :(

And then the planting started. I forgot to take pictures of the progess of this, because I got too excited and carried away haha
Sorry the pictures are crappy, I really need to get a good camera.

But heres the top view. (Reflection is bad, sorry)

Just a little preview of one corner of the tank ;)

Yesterday I bought 5 more Sterbai Cory's so I'm up to a healthy school of 7 now :)

And here's the finished product. I need to be patient and wait for the Costata's to grow a bit, it's bugging me not having any height in that right hand side. But I guess I'll grin and bare it for now! Again, I apologise for the poor quality of the photo.

Any suggestions on improvement are more then welcome. Thanks for your continued interest :)

Simply gorgeous! The only advice I can give is leave it be. It's going to fill in nicely.

Oh I hope so! I'm a bit stuck with fish at the moment. It's looking a bit empty. But I have no idea what to put in there. I really wanted a pair of Rams, but I don't think they're going to get along with the Krib too well. :(

Well we're not off to a good start!

The leaves on the Costata plants are dropping off! The ones further down the stem turn translucent and drop off :/
Any ideas?

The costata, is it Hygrophillia or Cryptocryne?
Oh, and were you thinking bolivian or blue rams?

If I were a fish, I'd want to live in your tank! It's stunning! I just got started with planted tanks in the last year, and looking at some of the ones on this site makes me realize I've got a long way to go...

It's a Hygro :)
And I was thinking the Blue Rams :)

Thanks very much! I've just got started this year also, I think a lot of it is personal preference, so I am thrilled that other people like what I have done :)

It's probably just stress, new water, new lights, just needs to adjust.

If you go with the blues, they'll be fine, as long as you raise the temp to about 82 deg F. I wouldn't add a female krib, if you do add rams. The male would most likely kill them.

I hope so! Some of the Bacopa's are starting to do it also. All 7 of my Cory's are doing fine. I usually have a problem where one of the new group will die. But they're all doing well :D

As for the rams, I was told that even without a female for Mr Krib, he will most likely kill them based on territory. I'm guessing it would be a risk I'd have to take, and know the nature of my fish.

Congrats on the cories! I'm sure your plants will recoup.
Yeah if you do get rams, add more tigers at the same time. Sometimes I find that adding extra targets, to a tank with a resident cichlid, helps divert aggression.

Sorry I haven't replied for a while. I've been away and just had so much drama going on!

Well the plants that I said were looking a bit sad have all died :( There is nothing left of the Bacopa and Costata.
But on the up side, all the swords are doing marvelous! I've already cut off a shoot from the Tropica Sword. A nice little plant formed on the end of it, so I'm pretty stoked about that!
The Red Ozelot is doing marvelous, it has doubled in size!

I just got in the mail today another Cryptocoryne Wendtii, and Balansae - it's HUGE! Like, I mean, really really huge! 35cm+! Can't complain with that! Now I don't have to wait for it to grow and fill in :p

I'll have to get some updated pictures for you soon. I'm stil undecided as to what fish to add.
