Keeping Java Moss Clean

I give mine an occasional good shake in the tank. All the build up gets sucked into my filter.

I’ve also learned not to keep it too dense— it will start to turn dark in the middle and it does affect your ph.

I used to just swirl it with my fingers during water changes, that cleaned the majority of it.

I used a bottle brush to gently sweep over it. Brushed off debris and removed hair algae, which I always battled with when I had java moss. Like in this video. He covers how to deep clean a tank that got really messy too, like using the bottle brush to sweep off the hardscape then doing a water change to remove all the debris.

I rinse, shake, thin, and trim mine.

I've never had java moss but I wonder if it would clean off well with a few pumps from a turkey baster... Just an idea
