Just Had The Shock Of M,y Lifee

If you're certain, then that's ok :)
For now, just do the daily water changes and try and get a test kit + water conditioner as soon as possible ... that's all there is to do right now. I hope your fish will pull through :) If you have any more questions, do not hesitate to either bring this thread back up again and ask away or start a new topic to get help :)

Good luck!

ok thanks fo ryour help overnight does all the chlorine go or sommet

Even though I am not an experienced fish keeper, I whole heartedly agree with Sylvia (although I pity you because I was in your situation when I started. I got some fish that were to big for my tank and the store would not accept it. Not even when I asked for no money.)

To be honest with you, I don't quite know how that works myself either. Perhaps someone else will come along and be able to explain it to you. Far as my knowledge goes, I believe most of it evaporates within a 24 hours period, though I'm not certain. I prefer using water conditioner myself, because with the cats and dog around my water usually gets drunk when letting it stand overnight. With the conditioner I can simply add it to the tank right away :) This also stops the temperature from changing too much and causing a temperature shock on the fish.

leaving water to stand so it goes stale does get rid of the cholrine, but there are still other toxins in the water that need a de-cholrinater to get rid of.

but wil i be ok just leaving it overnight then tommoz afternoon putting it in

erised would i be able to have a red tailed shark in there to i really want one

I'm afraid not. You're already completely on your limits in that tank. Also, a red tailed black shark gets up to 5 inches with ease, they require a tank much bigger than yours. I'd say a 55G at least. Stick with the fish you have for now, and then in the future get a bigger tank, and only then start thinking about getting more fish.

--edit--

About the water, you will be ok leaving it overnight and then putting the water in tomorrow, but it's not the best solution. That's why we've been telling you to buy water conditioner as soon as possible ... this will get rid of all the other toxins in the water as well, which just letting it stand overnight won't do.

no more fish!!! no! you're not allowed to buy ANY more fish! you're fully-stocked, bearing on over-stocked! which means you have too many fish as it is. stop thinking of buying more and concentrate on the well-being of what you have.

you understand? yes?

go to the fish shop tomorrow, they will have some kind of de-chlorinater, it's one of the most basic things and if a fish shop DOESN'T have one i'd be very surprised. (what the hell are they putting in their water??)

can we have a pic of your fish and tank? just so we know what we're discussing? piccies help!

edit..i jinxed with Erised hehe.
