Just Had The Shock Of M,y Lifee

Take the fish back to the lfs and start swotting. The tank needs to be cycled b4 any fish go in. Water HAS to be treated to remove harmful chlorines and chloramines from the water. For the sake of the fish you really must research what you need to do. Yes, we ALL make mistakes as newbies to the hobby and sadly it's usually the fish that pay for those mistakes. We are here to help.
Hugs,

ok thanks cant i don it with them in

let me try to comprehend what you just said....

okay, thanks. I cant do the fishless cycle because I already put them in....

or

okay, thanks. I cant return them because I killed (don it with them in) them.

please make your sentences more clear

please make your sentences more clear, your sentence structure insults all people over the age of 12.

Chill out, and stop being so offensive. I've seen you do some properly dumb ass stuff in the 5 minutes you've been keeping fish.

Sorry, I just get like that when I feel like I have been lied to. Sorry betta forget everthing I said. Im a newb too.

Hey bettas,

I'm sorry to hear about your fish. Just know that most people here made mistakes when starting fishkeeping as a hobby, and most have learned along the way.

If possible, please return your fish to the petshop untill you have cycled your tank completely. It's best to not cycle with the fish in the tank, because right now the water is toxic for them and will slowly poison and kill them. I'm sure you wouldn't want to put your fish through that :)

After you've returned your fish to the shop, read through this link here:
The process of cycling your tank

It will explain you how and why you should cycle your tank, and when it should be ready for fish.

If there's something in there that you don't understand, feel free to open a topic and ask people for help, quoting the part that you do not understand, and asking them to explain in different words for you. I hope you'll take all the advice that's been given, and will do what's best for the fish

Good luck

~Erised

Ps. Is english your first language?

arrr i dont bieleve this
they wont do it
they wont take it back what do i do i dont have another tank for them

Have you got any family or friends that keep fish as well? If so, offer the fish to them. You could also try and put them up in the buy/sell & swap section of this forum and explain the situation.

If none of that works out, you're gonna have to do daily water changes and hope the ammonia wont build up too much and that they will pull through. You'll have to do 25% water changes, every single day. Also, buy yourself a test kit so you can keep an eye on the ammonia levels. You'll need tests for NO2, NO3, PH, KH & GH.

ok shall i go change the water now
wont it be to cold

Wait!! Bettas make sure you put water conditioner in the tap water and let it sit for 30 minutes first! Also, do you know how to do a water change?

When doing a water change, you take 25% of the water out of the main tank, using a cup, a syphon or whatever.
When adding new water, you use the cold and the hot tap to adjust it to the same temperature the water is at in the tank. When completely new, it's probably best to take the thermometer out of the tank (check what temperature it's on first, it should be around 25C) and move it into the bucket. Make sure the temperature isn't off more than 1 C.

After you've got the temperature right, add water conditioner, this will take the chlorine and other bad chemicals out of the tap water for you. Let it stand for about 5 minutes (you don't have to wait 30 minutes) to make sure it's dissolved completely. Then either cup or syphon the water back in the tank ... carefully to not disturb the fish too much and stress them out.

sorry to seem like a dumb arse(coz i am) but no
what conditioner

ok whats the water conditrioner

No worries, I didn't know what water conditioner was either when I first started.
have a look at this webpage:
water conditioner

I shows you a picture of water conditioner, as well as explains what it is and how it works :)
I recommend you invest in some as soon as possible, preferable today if the shop is still open, else tomorrow.

If you don't have water conditioner (if you don't know what it is, you don't have it), don't change it straight away out of the tap- tap water has chlorine in it which kills fish.

My personal view is that you should do the following:

Fill a clean bucket with water (not cleaned with soap, clean as in no chemicals at all), and change 2/3 of the water tomorrow afternoon.
Then fill up the bucket again straight away, let it stand for 24hrs again, then change 1/2 of the water. Do this every day for a fortnight or so, moving down to 1/4 of the water in the second week.
Do not wash the filter.
Do not add any fish.
Do take out any dead ones straight away.
Do not feed them today.
Then only feed them once a day, only as much food as they wolf down instantly.
Read what cycling (and the nitrogen cycle) means, using the search at the top of this site- you will probably then understand your problem.

Now you need to very quickly work out what you're doing. If you show willing and effort, you will get all the help in the world. Any immediate questions?
