This Old Souse you asked so here goes lol.
I tried for two years to keep commercially bred Guppies but they never lasted more than a few months and after a lot of expense and heartache I decided to do some research and thats how I found TFF. After searching the livebearer forum I decided a private breeder would be the best option to try. I found a breeder who specialises in wild strain livebearers and bought two sub adult pairs and twelve fry of Trinidad Guppies off him and havent looked back.
He told me how he came to own them...
About ten years ago a young lady was at a University in North Wales studying for a degree in genetics. She went on a field trip toTrinidad to study local populations of Guppies and was allowed to bring nineteen pairs back to the UK to continue her research. After two years she got her degree with honours and now had around twothousand Guppies !
She kept a small colony for herself and made sure the rest went to the right people in the hobby, this is when the breeder I got them from aquired them.
So as far as I'm aware they're pure strain Trinidads. I have done little research on the www and some of the local Trinidad populations do have an Endler look to them but they can vary from pond to pond river to river, hence their use in the studying of genetics.

Well, then, you're so very, very lucky! They're absolutely gorgeous. I wish I could get some, as I'm starting to pine for my guppies lately! These are just incredible.
