Is This Fin Rot?

I've Never had a fish get fin rot so im completely unacknowledged when it comes to this kind of stuff.
well i bought a swordtail from my local petco and i noticed that (being in a tank with other livebearers) it had a nipped fin and the rip was outlined in white stuff
well me having a livebearers tank it of course was the target for more nippings which is exactly what happened.
anyways the rip on the tail is outlined in white matter or like stringy looking thing
what is it?

Well here is the deal man Fin rot or not go out to your local LFS and buy Melafix. Its for damaged fins and fin rot. It sounds like he got nipped at pretty good which in return could cause fin rot. Use Melafix as directed and you should be fine. Continue with water changes and your good man. Good luck

Alright well with a 20g tank your gana want to use 2 tablespoons every day for the next 7 days. At the seventh day make a 25% water change. and you should be good

Do you mean teaspoons, DJS? Melafix should be dosed one teaspoon (5 ml) for every 10 US gallons.

dont need to do anything. the white stuff is growing part of the fin..

just ad more slime coat and up temp..

should be ok i guess.
