Is This Alright Or Not?

*Jaw drops!*
Blimey!
Well i love him to bits, got him given to me, with the 5ft tank, and everytime he moves i jump up and watch him, he facinates me completely! i wouldnt mind starring and that cutey for another 20 / 30 + more years.
I heared the birchirs can live for 40years! wow! when i fount out they were killing my fish i loathed them completely and now im stuck with em *huffs* the boyfriend wont part with them though haha.
I read your signature bit you have some pretty awsome fish in your tank, but would you think maybe a fighter / gourami fish would do well in my 5ft, but then again ... barbs might bite hes fins?

The ghost knife will need to be in the 5ft, the sooner you move him the better, he would be ok with the senegal birchir but not the ornate. Althought a peaceful fish, if there are any small fish, like neons (which you say are now gone) they would as they grow have a few for a snack, however, if they from small grow up with smaller fish around, they dont tend to see them as food, so thats why I say, the sooner you move it the better, if will be fine with the plec too.

Mine is a very peaceful chap and is in with plecs and large cichlids, plus a senegal :good:

Male Bettas aren't really community fish.
A group of females is a possibility.

I may get told off for this *ducks*, but I personally would say putting bettas in a tank that size would be a bit of a waste.

What barbs are they?

As for gouramis, possibilites are:
Moonlight
Pearl
Opaline
Three-spot

hahahaa.
okay the barbs, il try to remember there names il start with my favourites:
-2 albino tiger barbs (they peck my fingers hehe)
-2 spanners
-1 stripped
-2 ruby barbs.

the onyl ones im concerned about there is the 1 bright ruby barb, in the old tank they used to chase eachotehr, but in the 5footer there altogether and i havent seen him as a bully since. i love my tiger barbs though :D

Thanks MinxyFishy, il speek to my partner today about it. thats a very good point, i remember when we were putting our angles and barbs in the new tank they thought the penguin neons were food and it was possibly becasue they were the smallest things in the tank and obviously thought they were food but theyve learnt now .. well i dont think the angles have haha, but thats there nature i discovered today lmao!
thanks for the advice again :D

Bit of an odd mix there...

Albino Tigers - 7cm
Spanner/T Barbs - 20cm
Striped barb (Puntius johorensis?) or (Puntius denisonii ?) - Striped = 12cm, Torpedo = 15cm
Ruby Barb - 5-6cm

I personally would drop the spanners and get two more tigers (albino, green or normal) and 2 more rubys. Just my personal preference, not a 'neccesary' thing though.
I just think it might look a bit odd when the spanners are fully grown if they all still shoal.

Id love to do that, i think the albino tiger barbs are the best, i mean ... THEY NIBBLE MY FINGERS and one of them plays in my hand and hand feeds which is wonderful. the spanners have got quite big since theyve been in the new tank thought, impressed with them, although, not as social as my albinos haha.
