Hi everyone, now ive been keeping fish for about 7months and im still trying to get around all the hard stuff (i havent even dived into different filters etc)
My partner has ad fish for over 6years and i love every minute of it.
But we have 3 fish tanks at my house now, heres whats in them:

1 - (dont know the litterage sorry) 6 baby mollies (1 heater, undergravel filter and a tiny fluval filter)

2- 5ft tank with 7 Barbs, 3 little catfish (the stay small), 1 upsidedown catfish and 9inch plec, 2 female mollies and 2 angle fish. we did have some neons but there gone but we have about 5 penguin neons and there still alive (2 heaters, internal fluval and external filter)

2- (3ft) 3 senegal birchirs, 1 delhizi birchir, 1 ornate birchir and a black ghost knife fish.
I know ghost fish will grow massive but he needs quitness at the moment and it said big but quite fish .... senegals! and althought i hate the senegals i love the ghost. When hes too big il put him in the big tank but that wont be for a little while. (1 heater and 1 internal fluval)

Basically i just wanted to know if people thought this was alright? i mean ... none of it looks over stocked but i might be wrong - and if it is wrong would you mind letting me know how i could make it better by anychance?
Thanks for reading everyone! :hyper:

You already know about the black ghost knifefish it seems, I'm not sure but I also think the 3ft tank may be too small for some of the birchirs in the long run as well.

If your neons went missing it was probably a case of your angels eating them because neons are part of an angel fishes stable diet in the wild.

Here is my post about your stocking from your other thread...

Black ghost knife fish - You know it needs a bigger tank. However it is a peaceful fish...the bichirs aren't. I wouldn't be surprised if you wake up one day to find a few chunks missing out of it.
Senegal Birchirs - Grow to 20" and need at least a 4ft tank
Armoured Bichir - 17" and need a 4ft + tank
Ornate Bichir - At least 20"! And need a 5ft tank pref more

All the bichirs are carnivorous and will eat anything that they can get hold of. They also need to be fed purely meaty food such as dead fish, prawns, mussels, etc etc.
PLUS, as they grow they will become more and more aggressive with eachother in that set-up. It just isn't big enough to support even one of those fish. Nevermind 5!

How big are they at the moment? I'm guessing not even 5" yet?

THE Delhizi is about .... 4inch but the others are tiny - we do feed them well, i know its small but we are getting another big tank for them in the next month or so, so atm i dont think its too bad for them, and as for there temperment, there scared of the ghost fish atm, no chunks out of him and he has ago at them when they get too close to his log.
As for them being vicious to eachother? they never, not once have harmed or faught with eachother, ive had the senegals for about 10 months and the others a month and a week for the delhizi, they all lay ontop of eachother really cute, although there not my favourite fish now i see them differently, hand feeding them live shrimp and the ghostfish likes cows heart etc so i just assumed theyd all get along as there all noctornal and are all carniverous,.
Thank you for the feedback though, i might just put ghosty in the 5foot tank instead as i didnt even think of the senegals biting chunks out of him, and hes a costly fish!

^^This was the important part. The reason I knew they were less than 5" is because they hadn't yet shown much aggression to one another.
They will though as they mature.
If you wish to disregard my advice that is your decision. But I wouldn't be keeping 5 Bichirs in a 3ft tank...

Just out of interest how big is the BGKF, looking at your stocking in the 5ft he should be ok over there...

I think your advice is very helpful so i really do appreciate is, as for your knowledge im amazed, i didnt know they would grow THAT big haha!
i really wanted my ghost fish in the big tank just because then that would be my tank and the senegals ... well were going to have to think about that now, do you know anywhere that would possibly take some off of me? i dont drive and i know pets at home wont have them back haha

Don't get me wrong, I've never kept them myself so if someone who has kept a similar mix together in a 3ft (to full size) says that they'll be fine. Then feel free to disregard what I have said.

But I've read plenty of posts from people that have owned those fish. And have also read lots of external info about them. They all basically say the same thing. Which is what I put up there.

You can re-home them via here or try local shops. They should be ok for awhile if you can't find them an immediate home. It's just something you need to be aware of.

Though I wouldn't leave them in the tank with the BGKF. If they decided to have a go at something they the BGKF would probably be the target.

YEAH THATS TRUE, and i had a BGK before but he died (velvet disease) and i cried for a bit more than probably what i should, and i dont think i could do that again, so il have to put him in there, im just worried, i heard that the big plec my suck on him , is this true?

First I've heard of it if it is...
I've seen plenty of people keep BGKF with plecos... Both fully grown and juveniles...
Do you know what type of plec it is?

I thought it was an armoured plec but apparently not according to a book i just read - possibly the sucker plec. hes fairly large *hold 1 finger out of each hand and seperates em* this big (lol)

Could it be a common plec?

Or a gibbiceps?

well done lmao!
Thats the one hahahaha, the common plec

Will grow to be anything from 12" -24"
The average being around 18" I think.
Good news is that the 5ft tank will be ok for it for most of it's life probably. Might even be for it's whole life, just depends how big it actually grows.

well its getting on, its a minumum of 6years old now, so im hoping it wont grow anymore id say, being a female who cant use a tapemeasure ... its about ... 13inches haha
