Can you tell me what kind of fish this is? I bought it at Walmart for $1.97.

Thanks!

also called a violet goby. I believe they are brakish as well and very gentle despite their gruesome appearance!!

Why did you buy a fish without bothering to find out what it is, what it requires with regards to tank size, Temperature, water chemistry ect, or what it eats before purchasing it ?

It's a nice fish but don't you think you ought to have researched it before buying it ? ( regardless of low price )

ok spoken with someone who kept it before...
They are brackish fish and filter feeders. They require minced foods or tiny brine shrimp.Should not really be kept in a community tank, not because the aggressive but because they have a hard time getting any food's....they grow to around 24inchs

... by that photo it is extremely under norished and needs a feeding up badly....
Agreed...

I was looking into these fish; really on thinking about getting some but did not.

Anyway, when they are in good health they develop an attractive iridescent, silvery blue metallic color with a gold blotch pattern! It looks really cool!

They also require salt to be added to the water as well. About 2-3 teaspoons of aquarium salt per gallon.
