Hi there,
I recently purchased one female and one male swordtail, I have had them in my community tank for about 12 days. I am really keen for my swordtail to have fry, but I am not sure if she is pregnant or not! I will attach an image of the fish below.. If the fish is not pregnant I would really appreciate tips on how I could possibly increase the chance of her becoming pregnant!
Thanks a lot.

If you have a male and female livebearer together for any length of time, the answer is: Yes, she's pregnant.

It takes about 4 weeks before the fry will drop though.

Btw, if you had just bought the female and she had been kept with males in the past, she could drop fry up to four times, even without the male being present in the future.

if she is kept with other males then she will eventually become pregnant it may take time but itll happen its one of the inevitabilitys of fishkeeping (if you keep a male and female livebearer together you will have baby fish)
