Is It Always Necessary To Add A Dechlorinator When Changing Water?

When i will have fries then i will need to change water every alternate day so is it necessary for me to add some dechlorinator in my water when i do water change or is it safe for me to make the chlorine get evaporated from the water and use it without adding dechlorinator? What all more should i add in the water when i do a water change?

If you're doing 10 or 20% water changes don't add it at all, if you're doing 50% water changes, let it evaporate.

Its safer to use dechlorinator and it isnt too costly. Seachem Prime is really concentrated and would last you a long time. I managed to get 3.8l of stress coat for £19.50 which was a bargain !

i live in India and prime is not available here so for me the dechlorinator will be very expensive if i add some of it in every water change. One bottle for me will be over in just 2 weeks so for me it is not yet clear that as i will be doing 15% water change after every alternate day so should i add the dechlorinator or not? Should i add the general aid medicine also when i do the water change or not because my LFS told me to add a few drops of the general aid medicine each time i add new tap water?

If it's 15% water changes just pour it straight in, no need for dechlor or heating.

1 bottle of seachem prime treats 5000 us gallons of water. Surely you wouldnt go through that in 2 weeks.

In india prime is not available and in my LFS and the dechlorinator which is available is not very concentrated.

If it's 15% water changes just pour it straight in, no need for dechlor or heating.

I will keep the water so that the chroline gets evaporated and do you suggest me to add the general aid each time like it was suggested by my LFS.

Sir right now i have not got any fries but my black molly is pregnant i suppose coz i can see her gravid spot and i am sure soon i am going to have a bunch of fries with me and the day they are born i will start posting their pictures. Thanks for your advise and reply sir. Please do answer my question about general aid which i asked in the previous post.

You'll be fine to add it without evaporating the chlorine, it will evaporate from the tank, and will be diluted by the current water.

i dont think its worth adding the health tonic unless the fish show signs of illness or stress etc. it will be a waste of money adding it every water change in my eyes.....

Is there chlorine in your water supply, or chloramines? In scotland they dont add chloramines so letting it stand is all that needed, not so in england. I always dechlorinate no matter what amount. di

Well i am sure that they add chlorine but not sure about the chloramines.

If all that is in the water is chlorine, you can draw the water change water the day before you need to use it and just let it stand exposed to the air. By the next day it will be safe to use for the fish. It is how we all did water changes before they invented the dechlorinators.
