If You Were Given £1,000, What Would You Buy?

They sell them at my LFS for £29.99 each, that's the cheapest I've seen them.

Nooooo, you're joking, not zebra plec's surely? Would have thought minimum price is around £150 each and that would be rock bottom.

No one should be buying zebra plecs in ones and twos unless they are adding to a group to start a breeding colony. By keeping them as trophy specimins rather than for breeding purposes you are removing that fish from the captive gene pool and reducing numbers that would otherwise be producing fry. It is now illegal to import zebra plecs from the wild and their habitat is under threat of destruction by the building of a hydroelectric dam, when the ones we have in captivity are gone there will be no more.

a boat and start fishing.
i guess £1k won't be enough but it's a start.

The sign on the glass didn't say any different, but they probably weren't actually 'zebra' plecs - plus the owners of that store are a little slow :/

Indeed, theres a plethora of plecs that could be decribed as 'zebra', thats why people tend only to buy true zebras from reputable breeders.

I would love to breed zebra plecs... but i'd never sell them ...and I would create the UKs first zebra plec aquarium.... housing as many as I could ;)

Beautiful

if i got 1000 i would use it to either start buying a fish house
set up a SA cichlid tank or start a breeding colony of some kind of fish Zebra plecs would be nice but im sure theres more interesting fish to breed like the splash tetra
