If You Were Given £1,000, What Would You Buy?

Now now JJ don't be insulting you know i don't do latin, i'm common all the way :p

Silly Vix. Should learn some, will help you.

Still £1000 would just about sort out my tanks I have :)

I would buy a breeding group of Zebra Plecs, then when the resulting offspring were ready I would sell them for a very small price on breeding terms that the new owner would have to have in place a breeding programme and a few of the offspring would have to come back to me. (Just a little idea I have in mind ;))

Now that would be a good idea!
As long as you sold them on those terms

Hmmm I don't think you could get a breeding group and the full setup for £1000 if it was all new etc. tank i'd use would be at least 48"x18"x18" then alot of turnover, then the group of fish, looking at £100 each +. Maybe could just do it.

And I don't suppose you would even pay the tickets and visas for your fish collecting person, Oohfeeshy, let alone his allowance.

I meant having the fish collectors in whichever region (in this case, probably the Amazon) getting species while they were out there collecting other fish. Probably not all that expensive, I know Wildwoods had one species I'm after at £19.99, a comparatively small sum of money.

Besides which, I forgot to write that I wouldd sell as much of my stuff as I could for a bit of cash back (ie, at least two of my tanks, some of my unused equipment, some of my fish etc, and most of the stuff bought would be second hand.

For what I'd get, it would probably be under £200 for the tank, hood and stand, I wouldn't need any additional filtration heating etc. Shelving, I could get my dad or my wood-worer relative to make, that would be under £50, fish for the 4ft would run to around £50, the extra 2fts would be less than £20 each and I'd be getting 5 or less, and the special fish, probably £20 ish apeice. Although it would cost a bit for a variety of large feeder fish for them.

I think you can get breeding groups of about 8 fish for like £600 ish.

I would give the money to my mum and dad as a kind of payment for the amount of water my tanks use. I know it doesn't sound great but it would make me feel better.

That is exactly what I would do. I used to breed very expensive cats a long time ago and some were sold on those terms. It gives others the chance to have the new blood at an affordable price and expand the breeding programmes whilst retaining some control.

The £1,000 wouldn't be enough to set it up completely but it would go a long way towards it, but it's not out of my reach and once I've done a lot more research it may be a plan I will put into action.

I would get a 220G tank with stand and a fish only SW tank. It wouldn't go very far.. much of the LR would have to be fake, but I could live very happily with that. ;)
Because I'd have money left over from not spending lots of money on real LR, I'd also Put a wall up in my basement somewhere to create a simple fishroom - where I'd set up all my 10G's once again!!
