If someone gave you £1,000 ($1,850) then what would you buy?

Remember, it has to be fish related, but you could buy lighting, fish, a complete tank, a new fish room, wood or a mixture of all these things...

For me, i would buy a custom 6.5x3x2.5 foot tank, with all lighting, heating and a couple of Ehiem externals, and if i had enough also sand and a huge centrepiece of bogwood, with the plan to turn it into a ray tank.

Dont just be limited to just FW, brackish and SW are also fine.

Thanks, Mikey

Probably pay someone to tidy my room first.

Then pay someone else to build me some shelving for some 2ft tanks and some betta tanks.

Then sell my current 4ft and scrap my desk, and replace it with a 4x18x18 , using all my old filtration etc.

All tanks would be bought second hand, of course.

The 2fts would be used for, amongst other things, a kuhli species tank (with the kuhlis I currently have plus another 10 or so more), and assorted breeding things to sell and as feeders if need be.

The 4x18x18 would have all the fish from my current 4ft, plus a group of exodons, a large mid/top dweller and some more dwarf giraffe cats.

And whatever money was leftover I'd stick in a jar and count it once a week.

Ooo!! Good post!!

I would get a fish room built! Complete with it's own RO unit and heating. Only I would have the key for the room!! *Evil Laugh*

Maybe, If I had some spare I would get a Marine tank built for me! d:D Oh, the dreams!

Actually, I lied. Whatever money left over would be used to pay someone to go and collect me a lot of parasitic catfish, a few indian torrent catfish and some other stuff. And whatever was left over from that I'd keep in a jar.

£1,000 ($1,850) wouldn't build the extension to make the family let me squeeze another tank in :grr:

Still, if we could ignore limitations of space for a moment.... I would like a big enough tank to keep a royal plec in. There is something about the panaques... Planted, lots of bogwood, not sure what I would keep "over his head" so to speak, maybe a large school of tetras. And a farlowella.

Any change left over, I would spend on a small setup with multis.

I'd buy all the stuff I need to get, 8 heaters, lighting for 7 tanks, alot of new external filters, new 20g tank and a smallish marine tank about 30g max.

Good ideas, i think a fishroom would probably be what most people would buy...

OohFeeshy your idea of getting someone to go and collect you some rare fish would be amazing, haveing only one of a cartain type of fish in the country would be pretty cool....

You youngsters seem to have quite optimistic ideas as to how far a thousands pounds will take you. Having just arranged the mortgage for a very basic loft conversion, I know not to expect any money left over for looking at in a jar. And I don't suppose you would even pay the tickets and visas for your fish collecting person, Oohfeeshy, let alone his allowance. Couldn't you have given us a bit more money, Mikey?

I agree with dwarfgourami, £1000 isn't enough. It would probably pay for a brand new decent sized set up with stand, heater and filter and thats it! We need more allowance :p

Greedy vix lol. All I'd get is the stuff to sort out my other tanks and maybe one more :)

Why what happened? You learn a latin name? hehe.

Now stay on topic hun!

Well im sorry, but its £1,000 lol.
Otherwise people would be going on about shark tanks and stuff. I think you could easily set-up some tanks and racks in a spare room, and probably still be left over with enought for some fish too...
