should I shut the light off some during the day? Some of the clear plastic under the light has some algae growing on it. On that side of the tank, the plants look perfect (ie filtered light). On the other side where they get the full benefit of the light, the leaves have some brownish green spots on them and are brownish green around the edges. I don't have any sucker fish (can't find any otos around here) and no snails in there either. Should I only use the light for a few hours at a time? Normally it's on for 12-14 hours (which is too long, I know. I need to remember to shut it off earlier).

I've heard its good to have the light on 4 hours then off 4 hours, etc. I think that makes it harder for algae to grow.
