I wish I could get to grips with Photoshop because I would love to be able to do that!

it really is not that hard, many photo editing suites will do that, just as well. the hard bit is the operator getting to know the program. Gimp is free and very nearly as good a photoshop, download it and give it a try. there are tonnes of tutorials on the subject. if you like make a thread and i am sure all who know how, will give you all the help you need. again it really is not hard to do, it just takes practise.

Easily done using the clone tool

Few actually know how to use the clone tool properly. The image with the visible pattern is a good example.

Gimp is free and very nearly as good a photoshop.

Gimp doesn't come even close. The main difference is quality.
But hey, what really counts (thank God) is the person using the tool, whether it's Gimp or Photoshop.
