been struggling the last couple weeks, recovery comes slower as we age...

Horses are safer than motorbikes; a lot safer - my sister used to do a lot of horse shows; later in life she became a handler of horses and attended the olympics...

That wound is pretty nasty will take at least a year to heal - though it will mostly be visible - i had a similar but not as bad wound and it was draining 6 months later. It stopped hurting after a couple of weeks but hte actual soft tissue damage was quite extensive.

I'd give whoever saddled that horse a good kick even if she is only 15 years old. I don't blame the horse one bit though one never knows how a horse will react in that situation.

Sorry it happened to you but hindsight wont' magically allow you to re-live the incident. In truth i haven't fallen off a horse since i was 16 or so; the horse brushed an electric fence and started bucking - it wasn't much of a fall just sort of a soft roll on the ground - get back up and get back on sort of thing so i don't want to make much of a deal of it.

In truth your damage could have been a lot worse and you could have lsot the leg so in a very crude sense you were lucky. Anyway good luck with a fast healing and keep it bandaged for a couple of weeks with daily change in dressing.
Have to disagree with you there hoses are much more dangerous than motorbikes (look it up)
More injuries, injuries tend to be more severe, unpredictability of a large animal, lack of protective enclosures, etc
After growing up with them you realize how dangerous they can be but know how to deal with them

sorry, I had this reply posted the other day, but forgot to click send... so bad foot, and failing mind ;)

BTW... I got rid of the last scab, that had been weeping, this week, it still has lots of discolor ( looks like a raspberry birth mark ) around 9 weeks after the injury

a picture from today, before I walk the parade for church...

the fresher looking wound on my shin was from working the other day... I always scrape my shins

Horses have proven a lot safer regarding Autonomous Driving than probably anything else.

But some are brighter and cautious about you and are really watching their steps around peoples...

Others... Not so much. Just a dumb donkey that will step on your feet if you don't watch them.

Still your reasoning is invalid if you grew up around horses you would know better they are much more dangerous LOOK IT UP (you can control a motorbike and it doesn’t have a mind of its own plus you have protective gear)

I have seen people unable to control a lawn mower.

I grown besides Beef and Poultry. And the latter was a lot more dangerous, loll.

I'm pretty familiar with heavy tools in general, And have seen small errors over corrected turn in disasters.

Horse or man, an instant reaction. Is an instant reaction. Have you ever rode a bull ?

His brain, your brain... Both brains... Still there's a lot of peoples who go trough where a horse would have stopped

Loll.

Magnum, that looks lots better than it did. I bet the redness hangs around for quite a while. Yeah, old(-ish) age healing is slow!

Maybe you need shin guards to prevent new injuries or at least longer socks, lol.

my shins are dented and scared most of the way up.... at this point, shin guards would have been the ticket, back when I was 12
