I Need Help

I've got a spare tank I'm goin to set up for my vampire crab. Problem is its round on the sides but flat at the back and front so I don't know how I'm going to keep it warm enough in there for him because the amount of water in there is going to be so small ill struggle to get a heater in there

Then I'd suggest a bigger tank.

Are you talking about those plastic ones for kids? Why not get a proper tank like the clearseal? They are fairly cheap and fairly well made. I bought a 18*10*10 (just under 30L) for about £25. If you want a lid that will hold light that would be extra. Also need to buy a mat and condensation tray but they not not expensive.

But twodoctors, I notice that you have a Honey Gourami trio with Bolivian Rams in the same tank.
What are they like together? I have a 80litre tank that has a pair of German Blue rams in I was hoping to get some gouramis for the tank too but I have never had Rams and Gouramis together and there is conflicting information all over the web.
I was thinking either a trio of Honeys 1 male and 2 females it a shoal of 6 Sparkling gouramis.
Your opinions would be great thanks! x
P.s. What are cherry barbs really like? People really put them down yet they still seem to be kept by many people. Are they nippy to your rams?

I wasn't aware of problems with rams and gouramis before I bought them. I haven't noticed any problem after either. My gouramis hides a lot anyway and the rams don't really bother them. My cherry barbs are also quite shy. In fact they are all really shy until recently when I did a rescape (see my other thread). I have about 6 males to 13 females I think and they only quarrel amongst themselves. I think odessa barbs are supposed to be nippy but again I had 9 in the same tank before (now with the big gouramis) and they don't bother each other either. I had tiger barbs and they were really nippy. They nip anything they can (including my arm). Traded them for the odessa and golden barbs.

I was doing very well keeping it a "biotope" tank in both (minus the cories and plecos), keeping things Asian, mainly because my pH is 7.8 and not that suitable for South American fishes. Shouldn't really have bought the Bolivian Rams (even though they are ok with my pH, unlike the GBR), but I have always wanted cichlids.

I can't really advice you on the honey gouramis as they hide a lot and don't interact much. I lost one recently (so now 2m 1f) and I don't know why. Only found the skeleton and I know none of the fish have ich. I guess it starved to death because they were all so scared/stressed in my tank before.

No not a childs tank I wouldn't waste my money lol I bought it to start out with as I couldn't afford a big tank to start. I'm not buying another tank again ill find a heater lol. Do those heaters work in water that go on the bottom of the tank like a mat for reptiles

I wish you'd rehome that crab, you can't house it properly and keep shunting it from one unsuitable tank to another.

NO they do not work in water, the will burn up in water and not function correctly.
