Well I just wanted to share my excitement. I have signed a contract for a student house as of September.

On top of that (which I'm obviously excited about), I checked with the landlord and fish are perfectly fine with him.

So my 120l tank will be coming with me! :D
On top of that I'll finally get to set up my 27l (Aqua 40) tank. I'm hoping to use it to breed some shrimp for a small profit. Even if they don't make me any money I still really enjoy watching shrimp, so it'll hopefully be a win win.
My point being I'll be going for something a little bit rarer than cherry shrimp. And hopefully something rarer than high grade crystal reds. At the moment I'm thinking about cardinal shrimp.

All in all a very good and productive day! :D :D :D :D

Haha fantastic!! How much did the fish stuff swing this house for you? Are you sticking at 3 foot or :hey: are you going bigger :hey:

Nice, I signed a one year contract for a house a couple months ago! I move in June 1st!

Not sure if I am bringing any tanks though...probably just keep the running up at my parents house... they don't mind feeding them when I am gone.

The fish had to be just a plus point. Searching for student housing is crazy. People started a couple of weeks before the majority of houses even came onto the market.
And there were people viewing the house at the same time as us today, but we arrived first (by 5 minutes) and they were with the guy while we were viewing the contracts and they were like "We can give you the deposit right now! Please we want it"...whilst me n my friends were literally JUST outside.

Oh and we've also been house hunting for 2 days...yesterday and today. So that gives you some idea.

The contract said no pets, but I asked anyways about fish (thinking that they aren't really 'pets'), and he said "Fish in tanks...yes, do whatever you like" I was like WHOOP!

FHM - It's not that my parents mind feeding them. But the maintenance gets a bit tedious when I never get to actually spend time with the tank and enjoy it.

All I know is, when I go to college, they HAVE to let me have a fish tank, preferrably more than one. It they maz size is a 55, then I may sell off two of my tanks and get a 55. If they don't allow fish, I guess the campus is just not for me.

Where are you planning on going? My college here does not care what size tank you have. All they say is that you can have no pets, only fish. A dorm is pretty much like an apartment, with very few rules. You paid for it, so it is your room (along with your roommates) so you can pretty much do whatever you want in it.

I was thnking Huntington University, it's in Indiana. My brother (one of them) goes there. He really likes it. That's wheremy dad got is masters degree, and where he took classes to become a Pastor. My older sister goes to North Park University in Chicago. She likes it, but it's in a dangerous part of town, Two gangs control the area surrouding it.

It's easier than you would think to find student housing (or just rented housing) that allows pets and fish tanks. I currently rent as I'm at uni in London and have 3 dogs, 5 rats, 2 turtles, 3 axolotls and a 6ft fish tank in the living room and a big rack of about 15 x 2ft tanks in the kitchen!

I started out renting just one room in a house last year and had 15 rats back then, still managed to find something - I was pretty adamant about not going anywhere if my pets weren't allowed though!

Well at the mo it's just the fish I have. So the pet thing wasn't as much of an issue. But next year (presuming it's just me and my boyfriend getting a place), I'll definitely start looking super early, and also look for somewhere that allows pets. I will have my pair of ducks at some point :D
