Floating plants are a bit tricky. Some people can't stop them from growing even in a less than favorable situation and others can't get it to do anything other than die in perfect conditions.

I had some duckweed that I was trying to grow to give my rainbows a bit of roughage in their diet. I added a good bit to several of my tanks all of which had similar conditions and were on the same water change schedule. I was only successful in growing it in one tank. Go figure

That mini water lettuce looks lovely - my gouramis would love that! Might have to get them some - not bought the fish anything in a while!

Cazzie get some, I'm really pleased with it, it really seems to finish my tank's look off. Had one or two too damaged to use (and a few snail eggs) but besides that they're great

Funnily enough, I actually bought some yesterday! hopefully they will thrive in my tank, as plants are a bit hit and miss usually.

That mini water lettuce looks just like some young plants from my full sized water lettuce. When they are first sprouted from the parent plant they are small like that but don't stay small. Mine end up being a good 4 inches across with roots that go down into the tank below for about a foot. If you get a good "planting" of water lettuce, it makes great livebearer cover but is not pretty to look at. Being a livebearer fanatic enthusiast, I find it a very worthwhile addition to many of my tanks.
