I Hate Heaters

I don't want another one though.. If they're that crappy, I wouldn't want to risk it again.

I bought an ELITE brand one.. The irridescent shark died, the silver dollars are still not in great shape, and the cichlids are dull, but swimming.

I'm raising the temperature slowly so I don't shock them.

Don't bother raising the temp slowly. The heater will take long enough to heat it back up.I've had this happen to me before, when you do it quickly the fish instantly perk up :good:

Awwww.. I'm so sorry that your shark died and that your other fish aren't doing well :( I really hope they're gonna get better since you got another heater!

The new one I have is plastic I believe..

1 of the silver dollars is lying on it's side and breathing heavily.. They do this when they are stressed, but the fact that only 1 of them is doing it worries me.

The 2 largest cichlids are already eating again and look totally fine. The other smaller cichlids have their color back but aren't in great moods.

its always better to heat a tank with 2 heaters, that way if one fails the other takes over

You dont need the packaging at all for the warranty, just figure it's worth a shot. The new line of heaters are great and I couldn't be happier with them so far. I have even forgot to unplug it during a water change and it shut itself off and right back on again after the water level rose.

unbreakable heaters are available for the UK market

I suggest to any overseas members contact underworld and ask if they can get them in their country.

I have a newatt in my exodon tank and so far so good.
I'm also impressed with the auto shutoff preventing the heater being on outside of water,
handy for water changes when you forget to unplug it.

Any time a heater goes out, you can keep the temperature up by simply floating a water bottle or just doing a water change with hot water. A 20% water change with water that is 20 degrees warmer than what is in the tank should raise the water temp 4 degrees.
