How To Grow Algae?

Yep it is on the sand, but the snails have had a hayday cleaning up the top layer of sand. I don't think I have ever seen a snail "stuffed" before but if it is at all possible it will happen to the 3 in the 12 gallon. I swear they must think they died and went to algae heaven

I am serious, it is like algae heaven  I am sure you guys have probably seen way worse, but this tank is bad. The entire front of the aquarium is just about covered. I have had the snail in there for a day and I can't believe how much they have already cleared off the front of the tank. I have a bridge ornament in there which is suppose to be a yellowish green colour, but it was totally brown. I woke this morning and it was yellow again. The haven't started on the plant leaves yet (artificial) but I can't wait till they do. They must just be in a frenzy not knowing where to go first  food food everywhere what do I do! I should have taken before and after pictures I didn't think about it till just now. But it is amazing how great these little guys are at eating.

Edit: oh and I don't think I have to worry too much about the 55 gallon now. I had a fair amount white "algae" I believe it is water mold on the airline tubing and the heater plugs and the snails are now going for that. So much for the claims that they only eat brown algae, they seem to be going after everything, I also had some left over flakes at the bottom of the tank last night and I would have usually taken them out, but I decided to leave it and see if the snails would go for it, and sure enough just before I went to bed there was a snail muching away on that flake, one even was munching on a bit of left over pea! Again I do usually take the left over food out, but I wanted to see if the snails would eat it and they did. This morning the bottom of the tank was as clean as I have ever seen it. Water change is due tomorrow, sand cleaning is going to be really easy this time :good:
