Hi everyone,

Iā€™m new to this hobby and Iā€™ve noticed that my New black mollies are slowly but surely getting bigger. The store I got them from store Males and Females together so there is no real way of knowing how long she has been pregnant. I have attached a couple images, can anyone estimate how far pregnant she is? Iā€™ve only had her a couple weeks.
When is the best time to separate her?
Also Iā€™ve noticed the males placing their dorsal fins up harassing her, is this normal?

Thanks šŸ˜Š

She is looking quite boxy, so I would say she is pretty close to giving birth. If you want to try and save the fry then floating plants will give them somewhere to hide away from the hungry adults.

Female livebearers can have several batches of fry after one encounter with a male, so make a note of when she has her fry, and you can expect some more around 28 days later.
