Below $5000 for me. I probaly have spent $3000 or so by now  6 years of fish keeping takes a lot of money. I spent around $1000 setting up my tank. Then probaly $200 worth of fish. Then $500 on food (brine shrimp, bloodworms, flakes - and keep running out) and i probaly spent $500 on medications, water parameters and so on. Then i must have spent $1000 on deco - such as plants, bogwood, rocks, misc. etc. That comes up to $3000 :S
Well anyways i think it is worth the money :)

I'm not sure I want to add it all up.. in fact, no, I dont want to at all :D

If we're looking at UK£ I'll take a stab... arount £7k about $10000

I figure i've spent around $750-800 Canadian. I was given a ten gallon and some fish last spring and from there i decided to get a 55 gallon, the related hardware, and some extra decorations and fish. From here on in, i don't expect to have to spend any more than $100 per year at the most.

I've spent atleast $700 so far.
And I can't even drive yet....*Chuckles softly*

I'd say alittle under $1000 because I spent alittle over $300 to get my 55g and the things needed for it and alot of other things that have added up over the years.

i thought this post was for the actual fish specimen only, not the money required obtain and maintain an aquarium. I've probably spent $150 on fish so far, but well over $1500 on equipment and food alone.

Can we never bring up this topic again, it hurts my wallet's soul. It's not so bad spending 50$ here or 30$ there, even 120$ but when you add it all up....

Ummm,

I guess around £400, so what that in $'s, ummm, $700. Not a lot in the real world....

sub.

Less than $100 ~ £75 so far, but I've only just started.

The tank, filter and heater were free, borrowed from my sisters old stuff.

Since then though, i've spent around the £75 mark on accessories and other misc items, but once bought are there for a good long time. Id say the most expensive item has been the master test kit at £17. everything else has been 5 quid or less.

Oddly i look forward to the day i've spent hundreds/thousands, hopefully I'll have a good reward to show for it.
