hi spooky, i`m just getting my tank ready for discus and am having same problem,my tap water is ph 8 with kh 13, and my r/o water is 7.5 with kh 0.
I though co2 would be the answer, With diy co2 the tank is 7.2 in evening and 6.9 in morning and kh has stayed a steady 5, i`m not sure how big a ph swing will affect them, but if you aerate the water at night it helps prevent it droping overnight, but it has bought ph down. i`ve been told 7.2 is fine for discus too as long as its steady.(if kh gets too low ph can crash)
