Holding Back Sand

As title suggests im trying to hold back sand i have tried it with stones/ rocks is there anything else i can use that looks natural and wont let sand seep through???

If your starting from scratch with the tank and its empty you could put a low wall of flat rock that touches the glass on both ends of the wall then use some fine material like stockings and put it against the rock wall in the unseen side and put some gravel to help hold it down and then back fill with the sand. I made a small rock wall/ledge in one of my tanks just using flatish rocks, and mixing sand and gravel and then planted up the ledge with Amazon Swords.
