After the bad introduction of Harry & Vinny, Im trying to find away around the stocking problem, so this is what I have come up with,

Put in the 5ft rio 400:

Vinny (he is already in there)
Small gold severum
BGKF
4 Geophagus Surinamensis
Breeding pair of Kribs
2 Bolivian Rams
BN & Gold Nugget Plec
Oto
8 Cordoras
7 Lacustris Rainbows
4 Thorichthys Ellioti
2 True SAE.

Into the Trigon

Leave Harry for a few weeks then Move him to the Rio 400 with Vinny, giving Vinny the advantage.
6 Vieja Synspila until a pair form, rehome the remaining 4 (this was always the plan but only once the pair had formed)

Into the Rio 300

2 Senegal Bichirs (they are eating my rainbows currently in the trigon)
4 Geophagus Brasiliensis (these will likely be rehomed, currently 3" max)
and add......either an Oscar? or a GT?

Does this sound feasible, the Vieja are between 2" - 4", so will be at least another 8months to a year before a pair forms, at around 6-8" apparently, plenty of room for 6 until then?

maybe wise to have the kribs and rams in different tanks tho altho theres plenty of room for 4 little fish in a 5 footer , however the female krib youve got is 1 fiery mamma when shes got babies. so should the rams stumble accross her and the brood they would probably get a bit of a pasting .

Yeah that was a concern, if a problem arises, can put the rams in a 20g by themselves :good: Although I cant see any eggs surviving for long with the fish that will be with them, but obviously something that would need to be monitored.

theoreticly in a tank that size it should be ok but hey you know cichlids !! sods law they will both decide out of all that space they both want the same bit!

If its any help my 2 rams (german blue) were ok in the 300l when the kribs spawned, just the male killed the female krib, but he is a stange one! but you have seen my 300l loads of plants and hiding places.

yep agreed lots of caves etc to hide and spawn in is the way forward for these fish

i probally leave it at that, not adding a oscar or green terror... :good:

only thing i worry about is, if the pair form of vieja and start spawning i think seriously you would need to dedicate a tank solely to the pair, but could be wrong

As soon as a pair form Nelly, I will be rehoming the other 4, so the pair will have a tank solely to themselves, no worries there.

Why would you not add an O or GT to the 300, the brasils are still small and so would the Oscar be, the Brasils will be rehomed soon.

Right, all fish moved into their correct tanks as the above list.

Harry will be moved in a few weeks to see if he can get on with Vinny, I think they should be fine.

I shall now attempt to dry my lounge out

Just a quick question, now you have another tank to you want me to start calling one of these baby rottie Rico again

I would not add any more fish to any of the tanks. Allow for room in the other tanks for if you need to move some around again. You know how crazy cichlids can get. Its always good to have extra space.

 Im sorry, I dont live in 'that' world. Sensible stocking is not in my nature, leaving massive great tanks sitting empty doesnt work in my brain. See tank, fill it, is my motto :fun:

Yep I know that, however, leaving a 90 gallon tank with only 2 Senegals in is a little silly, The other tanks are big enough for full growth of the fish currently in them, I would never put a fish in a tank that wasnt large enough for full size growth and long term happyness.

So I wont be leaving the 90g tank with just two senegals in, I will be adding either a single Oscar (minimum tank size 75) or a GT (minimum tank size 55g) I see no problem with either of those with 2 senegals in. The Geophagus will (are) being rehomed, therefore, these dont need to be taken into account when stocking this tank.
