Help Sex My Firemouths Please

Well I definitely would split them up in the long run (for the reasons verminator mentioned). But if your think the gouramis will be ok until the 6ft arrives then I'd definitely put either one or the other into the 6ft... if you like them then it's definitely worth giving them a go in a tank where they're actually likely to behave themselves! lol.

i definately like them, there colour is amazing although it doesnt look it in the photos, would they be ok in an aqua start 500 untill my 6ft arrives

Hmm....I would avoid it if there is any other choice. But if there are no other fish in with them then it might be worth a go. Just be ready to move them back to the 180 if neccesary and make sure you move some mature media over with them.

And it'd definitely only be temporary...

the aqua start is already setup, i used mature filter medium, and 80% of the water was from my clearseal tank so everything is mature in there and i will also put a branch in from my juwel vision, i always have a spare small tank setup just incase i need it , i do have a 33" 140ltr tank i could put them in but it would need cyclng as i closed it down last week

All you'd need to do it move the mature filter over and it'd be good to go. Plus it's be a perfect long term home for them. Quite a nice size for them to raise some fry in aswell... :good:

If you just add some of the media from a cycled filter and maybe a little bit of water it will be ready to go Straight away. 140lts would be great for them maybe with a few dithers like rainbow fish or a bigger type of barb.

ok so when i get back from town i will setup the 140ltr, i will prob get 10-12 small rainbows or tetras while im in town so they r not alone...lol

If you go for a tetra make sure its one of the deeper bodied tetra not the long thin ones or when the firemouths get bigger they might fancy them as a snack.

Big words for somebody who lacks basic grammar.
i dont see a single big word let alone multiple. also grammar and vocabulary are 2 different things

clutching at straws

Pity, beautifull fish to keep and hugely rewarding too.

Didnt realise you had them in with an african frog else i would have advised against it. Sorry to hear about the frog.

I would if i had somewhere to keep them, but i don't i'm afraid. I think adding them to my dempsey tank would be catastrophic, and my planted shrimp tank is no good for them, my hospital tank is well...a hospital tank. I think setting up a 4th tank is out of the question currently. Sorry, i can't help.
