Help Need What Varnish For Use On Diy Built Hood

just building a hood to fit my 3ft tank out of plywood i need to stain it walnut to match my base  but what varnish is safe  and will the inside need painting or varnishing with anything ?

Normal polyurethane varnish is quite safe, once it's properly dry. Do make sure you don't get one with any added fungicides or anything; there are a few that contain them. It will say on the tin

Try the Wax type stains (if it'll match with the base) water repelling and preserving in one fell swoop

got a wilkos own polyurethane fourmula  one doesnt mention anti fungals  thanks for advice guys   will post pics once ave got my lazy butt in gear n built it
