Help Me Name My New Guy!

I went into my favorite local pet store to grab some cat supplies, and of cours
e couldnt help walking over to their fish section - and what do I see A very young blood parrot cichlid in with a tank of young oscars....for only $9!!! Most LFS sell the BPC for $20-30....they received the BPC in their shipment by mistake so I snatched him up....my boyfriend is going to think I am nuts but I couldn't help it! he is a lovely pale orange with a lot of his juvenile black coloring still...

I know I know....i'm nuts! but I just couldn't help it!


Now he is happily swimming around my tank with my other BPC and being tested to see how he reacts to the ACF

my other BPC is named Sunkist...

Don't ACFs get big and eat fish? They'd definitely eat the Guppys, Corys, ADFs and the Betta

That is my whole stocking list....but not for ONE tank! that is what I have between all of my tanks! the ACFs are with the BPCs....have had it this way for a long time (with a spare tank standing by ready just in case!!!)

Due to the BPCs size they are in no danger of being eaten by my ACF, and due to the deformed mouth of the BPC the ACF are not in danger or being injured.



and yes, ACF do eat fish and 99.99% of fish species can't be kept with ACF....but I have experimented amongst my tanks and have found a happy balance with my ACF and BPC...

and my whole reason for keeping guppies is to have a supply of healthy feeders on hand as treats for the ACF....they are completely used to being handled and even petted! due to their life expectancy a lot of ACF keepers have stressed handfeeding when the ACF are young do familiarize them with people....so happy I did because they are a delight!

cute, aren't they? hey....what ever gets him interested in my fish tanks lol! If me letting him name the fish means I can have more fish....then so be it lmao!!!!

Very true I just know most of my fish will be named things from the Diablo or Starcraft games, or Magic cards... Good thing I like those as well

personally i dont name my fish

I don't name ALL of my fish...like my guppies, cories and plecos don't have names...but centerpiece fish / long living fish usually get named lol

I usually go with gut instinct to name my fish and I hate to say this but I look at yours and all I can think of is George or Bruce. (by the way my fish end up being called Disney character names from my kids LOL)

lol I try and think of nongender specific names when they are young...while I DO think the new BP is male and my first female...I am not positive...therefore I don't want my George to become a Georgina!
