Anyone got any tips for ridding a tank of hair algae. Its starting to attatch its self to most of the leaves of my planted tank. Ive tried Hair algae removal chemicals without success.

I am having trouble with hair algae also in one of my tanks...desperately hoping it does not suddenly show up in the other bigger tanks as well. I am concerned that it will suffocate the other plants. It seems to be growing from around the base and then spreading up in the leaves. So far I manually remove it as best I can but it grows on...Any tips or other info regarding its origins and extinction would be most appreciated...Newbie here to this site

I've been able to stunt the growth of my horrid hair algae by changing my light times

I now have my lights on 12 - 2 and then 6 - 10

So far the light change has prevented further growth with no harm to my plants although i do intend to increase my light output from an over all 56w to 93w on my 28ukg

This may be a usefull LINK as well
