Green Neons, 3 Uk Gal Tank?

Am setting my Nano up tonight with mature media its going to house my Cherries, would 5 green neons be ok in there too? saw some today at my LFS love them wanted some (more i already have 5 in a mixed neon shoal)

They will be fine. as long as you don't stress them too much. my friend used to have a 5 gal tank in which she was told by a qualified fishkeeper that she could fit 40 cardinals in. they are small and don't take up alot of room

That's less than 500ml of water per fish In other words, like saying you could keep a single cardinal in a plastic Coke bottle.

ok peoplei too thought it would be small to fit forty in aswell. however 5 neons in a 5 gallon wont hurt. have you ever heard of the rule 1gal per fish. of course that applies for small ones

The OPs tank is a 3 gal.

The rule you're thinking of is 1 inch of fish per gallon, not 1 fish per gallon. And that's not a very accurate rule either and doesn't apply in this case. 3 gallons is not large enough for three neons, and furthermore tetras need to be in much larger groups.

Hmmm....personally, I don't think any fish should be kept in a tank of less than 5g; I think that's the absolute minimum.

Agreed. I do keep my betta in a 4 gallon but he is incredibly ancient and doesn't swim very much anymore, prefers to chill out on a leaf and moves for food, that's it. In his younger days he was in a 10 gallon and loved the extra space. So other than that, I don't think I'd even keep anything in less than a 10G.
