for now we just stick to the individual groups

There is atleast 4 common types of Sevs sold also, and tons of rarer types.

the 4 common types are..

Heros Efaciatus (Green Sev, Gold Sev, Red Sev)
Heros Sp. Notatus (Spotted Severum)
Heros Sp. Rotkeil (red shoulder Severum)
Heros Sp. Appendiculatus (Orange shoulder Severum)

This goes for pretty much all of the fish in the list.

I went for Firemouth, just because mine has such an interesting personality lately...I assume by Firemouth you mean any fish within the "[font="arial][size="2"]Thorichthys[/size][/font]" family, not just a "[font="arial][size="2"]Thorichthys [/size][/font]meeki"?

If I voted last week it might well have been Acara, Convict or Geo I chose

I'm placing my bet on Severum coming on top though, because so many people can't big them up enough. In a month I'll have one so I might well vote Severum next time around

not just Sevs and Rams tho....forgot to mention the diversity of Geophaghus available.

I mean The difference between Tapagos, Gymnos, Brasiliensis, Juruparis, Suri's is crazy.... other than being in the same group, they are all completley different fish, in behavior, shape, colour ... some are social, some are solitary... etc.

But, if we were to list everything, it would be stupid.

Better off narrowing it down to genus.

Ie: 'Heros' instead of 'Severum'.

+1 to stop any confusion, although a lot of people out there are only comfortable with common names

The Firemouth option shows the confusion this might cause, it is a specific fish, not a genus of fish...

As long as everyone gets the idea it should be fine

i just went on liveaquaria.com and added each fish (group) in NW cichlids

Go on fishbase, and list every genus you can find for new world cichlids, then people can resume voting, once we have a winner, a species can be voted for from that genus.
