Vieja/Paratheraps groups is missing, plus others, copying a list from a fish site isnt ever gonna give you the entire genus/species of NW cichlids.

I also agree that you cant lump the Geophagus species into one, plus you missed Satanoperca species. Why is Cockatoo & Agazzii and Apistogramma listed, going on the list up there, surely they should just be under Apistogramma, other species arent singled out. Surely the Firemouth should be listed as Thorichthys, unless you plan to add some of the other fish in the genus, Ellioti/Aureus.

If you want the poll to work, at least get the list correct, its not like listing your everyday commonly sold guppies/platies.

Also Peacock bass are not Cichlids, they are 'Cichla' a different type of family that is perciforms
incorrect

--------------------

hybrids should be disqualified

Yup peacock bass are in the cichlidae family. The genus is cichla but it's still in the cichlid family.

There are 1000+ fish in the cichlid family so it's not like they will all be listed.

Indeed snowflake there are 1000's of them, so as Truck suggested, 1st list the genus, then whichever comes out tops in that, then list the species within that genus.

Do you think maybe do this poll again? its a bit screwed up.

But this time instead of listing individual fish, list species with a example next to them for the n00bs.

ie: put in

Heros (ie Severum)
Geophagus (ie Tapajo)
Rams (ie GBR, Bol)

Some people like diff types of Cons like Sajica, Cutteri, Honduran Red Point etc...

And yeh I was wrong about Cichla (as of now, although, they get changed about a lot).

I think it best to re-do the poll before there is too many responses and confusion...

you have apistogramma on there and then also have panda, cockatoo and agassizii. you need to make up you mind how you want the poll to be done. i would do what truck said it will be the easiest to do.

well i am doing it how truck suggested actually
the thing is i am a livebearer keeper and have NO experience with NW Cichlids Besides angels
so i just went on liveaquaria and added all the fish the best i could into groups
maybe a more experienced Nw Cichlids keeper like truck or someone could re-do it :good:

so your guys want more general options. Something like the genus not Species? or maybe going by sub family would be better?

The polls are limited to 25 options per question, which have to be factored in I guess. Genus would be good, but if that would mean too many options then I'm not sure what...

I did have a look on fishbase but couldn't see any way of producing a list of NW Cichlids easily.

I think the way this poll is gets the job done just fine. Its not perfect but you get a good idea of what poeople like.
